MJF - Multi Jet Fusion

Multi Jet Fusion is the new SLS tecnique.

With amazing speed and resolution, the MJF printer sets a new standard for what is possible in 3D printing. The machine is ideal for prototypes as well as series production in numbers previously unaffected by additive manufacturing.

The machine also offers finer detail and resolution than corresponding methods using thermoplastic. Details are printed in PA12 and have properties that exceed selective laser sintering, SLS.

The printed models can, for example, be infiltrated, painted, dyed or grinded to obtain the desired surface.
MJF is one of several options in Rapid Prototyping / Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing.

MJF - technical data

As with SLS technology, MJF puts out powder of material with a thickness of 0.08 mm. But there ends the similarity.
At the next stage of the process, two different liquid agents are applied - through print heads with a resolution of 1200 dpi. A "Fusing agent" is applied where the material is to merge and a "Detailing Agent" is applied to areas that do not merge.
Thereafter, energy is added in the form of heat that causes the powder to melt where "Fusing Agent" has been applied. The process is then repeated with a new layer of powder. After completion of the process, the parts are removed from the building surface, they are brushed and blown clean from powder. Finally, agreed finishing is carried out, such as grinding , dying or painting.

Tolerances MJF min ± 0.2 mm and ± 0.25% of dimension. Smaller tolerances upon agreement. The minimum wall thickness in x / y / z is 0.5 mm. Detailed detail down to 0.1 mm.
There is a risk of increased tolerances in the case of cutted and bonded parts.
