Flexforming in Quintus press is a very appropriate technology for the manufacturing of large double-curved parts in low and medium volumes. The main reason for this is that the press technique requires only one tool half, which means up to 70% savings in tool investment.

The larger the size of the part, the greater the gain of only having to invest in one tool half.

Prototal AB is unique with its two large Quintus presses. There are only a very small number of machines in the world of subcontracting.

Stamping of decor, facade panels are good examples of projects that in a good way exploit Prototal AB's ability to flex forming of large metal parts.

  • 70 % savings in tool investment offer great potential to develop large-pressed parts with 3-D modeled surfaces. This at a cost that was previously thought impossible
     
  • Details of a length up to 4000mm can be pressed and the widest part we press is almost 1600mm.
     
  • One tool half also provides the advantage that one can work with the pressing of different sheet thicknesses in the same tool which is not possible in a conventional stamping tool.
     
  • The press technique is very gentle on the surface of the part, which means that it is possible to press in most materials i.e stainless steel, aluminum, zinc, steel. The sandwich material Alucobond, which is adapted for wall cladding, has is also very suitable for pressing of 3-D modeled pattern.

 

Below are some examples of patterns that we have developed. The material in this case is stainless steel in which the surface structure is brushed or polished mirror.
